Damages

We closed on our new house on Friday, July 22. We were so excited to finally have a home again and had been looking forward to being in this house for quite some time. The next morning, when the movers came, one bad thing after another happened. They showed up late and all of our household goods were in a semi truck that was too large to fit up our driveway. They were told 3 weeks prior they needed to use a smaller truck (which they call a shuttle). They insisted on trying to get the truck up our driveway anyway, only to get stuck. After finally getting unstuck, they had to drive to Penske to rent a different truck. They then moved our items from the big truck to the little truck and then up our driveway. Almost every single piece of furniture of ours was severely damaged. I was in tears and they brought each piece in the house, each item looking worse than the one before.

Here is just a small snap shot of some of the damage:

Two formal dining chairs had legs completely busted off. All the other chairs were scratched. The table was gouged on two of the corners and the matching buffet metal bracket was completely ripped off.

Brooke's bed has a bed post broken off and it is missing. One of the support beams is completely split down the middle. The rest of her furniture is nicked and gouged and the support beams to her mirror are missing.

Avery's white upholstered bed was almost black with handprints and dirt:

Our brown leather couches were rubbed raw in spots. Our office desk has marks all over it and a scratch on the top. Jade's bed had some gouges and our old master bedroom set is gouged as well. We are missing our Kirby vacuum, brooms, Swiffer, some curtains, and a clock. Our washing machine is also broken. We are in the process of filing a claim and I'm hoping and praying things work out for us.

We were so excited when Wednesday rolled around and we left for a mini vacation to Boston... we definitely needed to get away from the house; it was so stressful seeing all the boxes and broken furniture.
