Home Tour

Welcome to our home!

It's feel like it was a long road to get ourselves settled this time around, but we are just about there! Our furniture is mostly all fixed now, we've painted a little, our blinds and plantation shutters have been installed, and we tackled a few things on our list of to dos.

This is our third new home. There were things I loved about each of our houses, but dare I say it - this one is my favorite! Maybe not my favorite state, but definitely favorite house ;-)

I stood in the same spot when taking the picture above and below. I am about a third of the way down our driveway. The grass seed that the builder laid down didn't take. I think it was just too hot and despite watering it everyday, Jeff had to get top soil delivered and we seeded it ourselves.

My front porch! I am absolutely in love with it. While I loved the big brick and stone houses in Texas, I just love the classic colonial look too! Since our neighborhood is part of a historic battlefield, "the battle of Chancellorsville," all of the homes in the neighborhood are colonials. We chose the classic white siding, black shutters, and red door. I couldn't be happier. I love sitting on the rocking chairs and just enjoying the beautiful scenery with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Our neighborhood is so peaceful and serene. The kids love seeing the deer in the backyard or on the sides of the road each day.

Walking in our front door:

Immediately to the right is our dining room:

And to the left is our formal living area/sitting room. It is just empty for now since we don't have furniture to put in there yet:

Powder Room: We had this vanity installed in place of the pedestal sink and hung this mirror. I would like to possibly paint this room; haven't quite decided yet.

Our office:

Family Room:

My favorite room in the house - the kitchen!

I spent a lot of time designing the way I wanted the kitchen to look. It is drastically different from what was offered in the original floorplan of this house. I am really proud of how it turned out, especially the kitchen island. The wine racks on each side of the island, the corbels, and the farmhouse sink really make the kitchen come together, in my opinion. I love cooking in this kitchen and can't thank Jeff enough for letting me get all the bells and whistles in this kitchen, especially those cabinets!

Morning Room:

We love how spacious this room is. It accommodates our family well!

Off the kitchen is a pocket door (which leads to the mud room/laundry room and the garage) and the pantry.

One project we just had finished was in the mudroom. This is the girls backpack/coat wall and I think it turned out fantastic. I plan to have a large picture of the three of them made and place it on the ledge/shelf.

Second Floor.

His and Hers closets
I most love having a separate vanity in the bathroom. The double sinks in our last bathroom were nice, but now I don't have to look at Jeff's mess - because we all know, I am the clean one in the family!!

Shower with two separate shower heads. I love the listello we picked in this shower:

Brooke's furniture took it's toll during the move. We still haven't done anything to her room yet. We opted not to have her furniture fixed since they were only going to be able to repair the dresser and nightstand. The cost to fix the bed exceeded the cost to replace it, and unfortunately they do not sell the bed anymore. We planned to just replace her set with something different, but then while looking through bins of decorations, I found the finial that cracked off! (Apparently the movers thought they would just hide it in a bin instead of telling me). I am in the process of waiting for a different furniture repair company to come out to see if we can get the bed fixed now. Fingers crossed! Brooke has been such a good sport waiting on her room to get finished.

On the other end of the hallway is Jade and Avery's bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious linen closet.

I love Avery's room. If I could be a little girl again, this is exactly the kind of room I would want. Jeff painted the walls and hung the chandelier and medallion. It turned out great.

Jade's room: We painted diagonal stripes on the wall where her headboard is again and it turned out nice. The secondary bedrooms are much smaller in this house compared to our previous two homes, but it's not bothering me as much as I thought it would.

Jade and Avery's bathroom:

Brooke has a really nice size bathroom all to herself. I think I will eventually change out her shower curtain and décor, since it's pretty old - I want to give her something a little more sophisticated, but will wait until we see what happens with her bedroom.

Basement.

Basement/Guest Bath:

We had most of the basement finished when we built the house. I designed exactly where I wanted walls to go and I am most happy with this huge walk in game/craft closet. It's perfect for the kids and all of their things. It is right at the bottom of the stairs.

Guest Bedroom:

When you walk downstairs, the bathroom and game closet are to the left and the bedroom is to the right. Once you walk down the hallway, you get to the big open area:

This is a great play area for the kids. Jade has her gymnastics mat on the floor, there is a tv down here, couches, a craft table, and all of their toys and books. Eventually we would like to add a wet bar on the far end of this room. To the left there are French doors, which right now, we left unfinished. This will hopefully eventually be turned into a media room.

Judging by the mess on the floor and table, you can see, this space is already getting it's use.

If the stars align, next spring/summer we hope to tackle the backyard. We really want to create a nice outdoor space with a patio, firepit, and deck.
