Brooke's "Winter" Party at School

Today was Brooke's "Winter" Holiday party at school. I had to be careful to keep saying Holiday party and not Christmas, which is the unfortunate thing about public schools. However, just a few days ago they did pass a law in Texas - and it is now okay to say Merry Christmas in schools! Yah, Texas!

So when I made a snowman last week as a trial run for the centerpiece decorations for the party, it seemed simple enough. However, apparently the mathematical part of my brain has shut down, and I failed to calculate that although it only took 5 minutes to put together- that making 30 (6 for each Kindergarten class) of them wasn't going to be a quick task.

My living room looked like this at midnight last night... For someone who is not typically a procrastinator, I picked the wrong task to procrastinate on!

It was pajama day at school, so getting the kids ready in the morning wasn't too difficult. We all had to be ready and out of the house by 7:30am... typically this is no big deal because I only have to worry about getting Brooke ready, but today we all were going to the school.

I loaded the kids in the van along with my 30 balloon snowmen and off we went.

I dropped Brooke off in the car pool line and then parked the car. I took Jade and Avery in the school with me so I could sign in and then unloaded the van. Each month the school has what they call a stampede. It's kind of like a little pep rally, the kids sing, and they give out awards, etc.

It's kind of hard to see... but if you look closely towards the left, near Marty the Marshall, Brooke is standing up being honored for a merit award for Kindergarten! Go, Brooke!!!!
After her award... I ran, no, sprinted, back to the classroom to finish helping set up the party!

Here, I got Jade and Avery settled into a small spot where I hoped they would stay during the party.... not going to lie, they actually did pretty good. I was pretty happy with their behavior for the most part.

Here comes the class....
First we had an easy picture frame craft ready for the kids to stick stickers on...

Then, we played 2 games.... "Hot Snowball" (just like hot potato), but to Christmas music and pin the Reindeer.

Keeping Avery calm with my phone... I am pretty sure she deleted some things, lol
Then, we had a book exchange. We had Brooke's teacher read a story, and each time the kids heard the word "snowman," they had to pass their wrapped book to the left.

and lastly, probably the kids most favorite part, popsicles!

Overall, I think the party was a success. I am so glad I can help out at Brooke's school for these events. It's one of the things I love most about being a stay at home mom, that I get to be involved in what the kids do. I do, however, feel stretched thin. I had to miss Brooke's field trip earlier this week because it fell on the same day as Jade's Christmas program. I was devastated, but only can do so much, and try my best. Brooke was definitely excited that I was there at her party today, and she proudly told all her friends that her mommy made the snowmen and planned everything. It felt so good to hear that she appreciated me.

Here a few pictures from Brooke at her field trip that I was able to get another mom to snap for me....
