We are back from our vacation and all settled! Tomorrow it's back to business as normal in the Owens House! We left last Thursday at 4am and spent the afternoon and night in New Orleans.
We stayed at the Marriott on Canal Street in the French Quarter. I won my bid on Priceline on this hotel back in November :-) |
The girls are waiting for our van (which was parked Valet since there was no self parking- and it really was just a huge inconvenience for us), so we can explore NOLA! |
First stop- Cafe Du Monde!! I couldn't wait to get my hands on their famous Cafe au Lait and beignets!! And let me tell you- it did not disappoint!
After, we walked around the french quarter a little bit. It was super cold, and was rainy- so we didn't get to spend as much time exploring as we would have liked to.
Jackson Square:
Saint Louis Cathedral |
Local Artists lined the block of Jackson Square selling their art |
This man, Rafael- asked us if he could give each of the girls a drawing. Brooke, Jade, and Avery were each excited to pick something out. |
Arriving just 2 days after Mardi Gras, we saw beads pretty much everywhere we turned. Although, I assume New Orleans probably looks like this on a regular basis.
Beads and Voodoo aside, The architecture and charm that is found in the French Quarter are truly beautiful.
The Louisiana State Museum- The Cabildo was the site of the signing of the Louisiana Purchase. |
Lafayette Cemetery No. 1:
We swung by The Superdome, since I am a Drew Brees and Saints fan... I had to beg Jeff to get a picture :-) |
Bourbon Street:
