On Friday Brooke had a Fall Festival at her school. I stayed home with Jade and Avery so Jeff could spend some one on one time with Brooke. They had a mini petting zoo, some bounce houses and games for the kids to play.
Saturday morning - Brooke is reading on our computer with a program she uses in school called iStation....
On Saturday afternoon I had a chance to get my hair done. It has been over 4 months since I've had my hair cut/colored... I was long overdue, and one happy girl to have my hair trimmed.
On Saturday evening we went to Mellow Mushroom... this is by far one of our favorite restaurants. The first time I've ever been to a MM was in Franklin, Tennessee when Emily and I visited her brother Matt - which was probably like 9 years ago, I think. We also had one in Murfreesboro and there are a few in the Dallas - Fort Worth area, but they just opened up one here in McKinney last month, which is awesome! It's right in the historic square, which we love - so we were really excited about this new addition!
Don't judge- this is a Chicken Caesar pizza - and it is amazing! One of my FAVORITE things on the menu! |
After dinner, we walked around the square a bit and then went to this cute little toy store. Brooke got her first report card last week, and she did really really good! We are so proud of her. She is reading at a 1.2 grade level (which means the level where they typically want a child to be reading 2 months into 1st grade). Her teacher is going to challenge Brooke even more, and believes that Brooke will be at a 2nd grade reading level by the end of the year :-) We rewarded Brooke with $20 that she could spend on anything she wanted.
She picked this set of horses and had enough money for another single horse...
She was very excited to give the cashier her money and get her horses!
Sunday afternoon I took Jade for her first haircut.
We probably should have taken her months ago- but so what if her first hair cut was when she was 3 years old :-) Here is her before....
During...
and after...
Being one of the Room Moms at school... I end up doing some odd tasks here and there. Brooke's teacher needed help decorating an apron for this weeks spirit night, so I figured I could think of something to do with it. All the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers will be volunteering and are having a little contest decorating aprons.
I decided to make a tutu and attach it to the apron and then added some ribbon around the neck, a bow, and rhinestones all over! So here was the finished product. |
After Jade's haircut, I took Brooke to a class party at a local trampoline park. Her class won a free party because they raised the most money out of all the classes in the school for their fundraiser back in September.
Some of Brooke's classmates.... This little boy in the front was a hoot- he kept asking me to take his picture and would make all sorts of funny faces :-) |
We had a busy but fun weekend!
