Nothing crazy going on around here... we had a pretty uneventful Memorial Day. We had plans to go camping for the night with the kids, but we got rained out. The weather was stinky all weekend so we just hung out around the house. Here are some pictures from the past week.
On our bike ride up to the splash bad last Tuesday, we saw this caterpillar - I wonder if he is poisonous?
Some splash pad fun after our bike ride and walk:
Playing at the playground:
We have a book that we got in the mail when we lived in Tennessee- it's called "The Legend of Indian Paintbrush." I had never heard of Indian Paintbrush until then. And now, living here in Texas, in mid May- it blankets the sides of the roads.
The girls love to swing. They would rather swing than do anything else. I've been trying to find different swings and parks in town while Brooke is at school to take the kids to.
On Friday, Brooke had field day at school. I wasn't able to go- because Jade had dance class, and even if she didn't, I just didn't think bringing Jade and Avery would work out very well. They would want to play too and I knew it would be difficult. My friend sent me some pictures of Brooke. Brooke said she had so much fun and it certainly looks like she had a blast from the pictures!
We spend most of our evenings walking and riding our bikes and scooters. The kids especially like to find insects, bugs, or sticks along the way.
Saturday we walked around the Crape Myrtle trails. It's not a very large park- but I think it will be pretty there once the Crape Myrtles are in bloom.

An attempt at a Memorial Day picture |
This week and next is Camp Kindergarten for Brooke. Parents are encouraged to send letters to their "camper" each day. Every day there is a different theme for the kids. Yesterday was Day 1- and it was Camp write a lot. I sent in colorful gel pens, stationary, and stickers. Brooke wrote a cute letter to us while she was at school, and exchanged letters with her friends. Today is puzzle day- and Brooke will get a letter and a care package from Grandma R, I'm sure she isn't expecting to get letters from other family members besides us :-)

Brooke was so excited when she got home from school that she sat at the table for an hour still writing more letters to her friends. She even wrote a letter to Ethan next door and put it in their mailbox. |
