Tuesday
afternoon, Jade's teacher texted me to let me know that Jade's nose was running
and she was starting to lose her voice, but was acting fine. When I picked her
up from school, I could definitely tell she was coming down with something.
We decided
to meet Jeff at the park anyways when he was finished with work.
After the
park we grabbed some dinner at "On the Border" - everyone in the
family enjoys this restaurant. The weather was beautiful, so we sat on the
patio.
About 10
minutes into dinner, Jade said she was freezing, and was starting to develop a
cough. I cuddled her on my lap throughout dinner. By the time we got home, she
got progressively worse. She had a high temperature and was barking like a
seal. She definitely had croup.
So
Wednesday, Jade, Avery and myself took it easy. We stayed in the house while
Brooke was at school and made Halloween cupcakes:
Jade and
Avery helped with everything but cracking the eggs... they poured in all the
ingredients themselves and even mixed it up with the hand mixer.
While they
were baking and then cooling, we had lunch and Jade wanted to take a nap. I let
Avery (who doesn't nap, hasn't in months!) frost and decorate a cupcake for
herself.

Is there anything cuter than a little person stuffing their face with a cupcake? |
Poor
Jade wasn't even in the mood for a cupcake when she got up. We picked Brooke up
from school and took Brooke to gymnastics. We all camped out in the van
while Brooke did her thing- Jade was devastated that she couldn't go to
gymnastics, and begged and pleaded that she was better.
Jade
stayed home from school yesterday and we skipped out on dance this morning. She
seems a little better, so I hope she can go to a birthday party tonight at
Chuck E. Cheese for a friend of hers from preschool. Avery woke up this morning
with a raspy voice, so I have a feeling all the kiddos are going to end up sick
this weekend.
