Happy Halloween!

Avery always makes this face!
Jade dressed up as a baker for preschool.

While older sisters were at school... Avery and Mommy played outside enjoying the beautiful weather.

We're off to see the wizard...

I thought it would be fun to take a little look back over the last couple years...

Last Week

Jade and I went to Chuck E. Cheese on Friday for a birthday party
Over the weekend we carved a pumpkin:

Avery got to see what it was like inside the pumpkin too

Brooke isn't thrilled with the pumpkin 'guts'... but this year she gutted the whole thing with me. Last year Jade did it all and Brooke wanted nothing to do with it, this year they flip flopped.

This Week

Tuesday afternoon, Jade's teacher texted me to let me know that Jade's nose was running and she was starting to lose her voice, but was acting fine. When I picked her up from school, I could definitely tell she was coming down with something.
We decided to meet Jeff at the park anyways when he was finished with work.

After the park we grabbed some dinner at "On the Border" - everyone in the family enjoys this restaurant. The weather was beautiful, so we sat on the patio.

About 10 minutes into dinner, Jade said she was freezing, and was starting to develop a cough. I cuddled her on my lap throughout dinner. By the time we got home, she got progressively worse. She had a high temperature and was barking like a seal. She definitely had croup.

So Wednesday, Jade, Avery and myself took it easy. We stayed in the house while Brooke was at school and made Halloween cupcakes:

Jade and Avery helped with everything but cracking the eggs... they poured in all the ingredients themselves and even mixed it up with the hand mixer.

While they were baking and then cooling, we had lunch and Jade wanted to take a nap. I let Avery (who doesn't nap, hasn't in months!) frost and decorate a cupcake for herself.

Is there anything cuter than a little person stuffing their face with a cupcake?

Poor Jade wasn't even in the mood for a cupcake when she got up. We picked Brooke up from school and took Brooke to gymnastics. We all camped out in the van while Brooke did her thing- Jade was devastated that she couldn't go to gymnastics, and begged and pleaded that she was better.

Jade stayed home from school yesterday and we skipped out on dance this morning. She seems a little better, so I hope she can go to a birthday party tonight at Chuck E. Cheese for a friend of hers from preschool. Avery woke up this morning with a raspy voice, so I have a feeling all the kiddos are going to end up sick this weekend.

Photo Dump

Some serious case of bed head...

Avery's hair is so unruly... she must roll around a ton in her sleep, because she wakes up every morning with crazy hair!

Painted some pumpkins.... Mommy's is on the left....followed by Brooke's, Avery's, and Jade's- I think they were going for a more abstract kind of pumpkin :-)

Jade's preschool picture

We think Jade might have skeeter syndrome... she got bit by a mosquito the other day, in 3 places, and then the next day it looked like this. This particular spot was the worse...

Jade going to bed with of course her beloved monkey, toto, and her new Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder from Grandma and Grandpa :-)

Brooke giving me strange faces while I attempt to take her picture

After a morning shopping trip to Target, we got home and Jade and Avery shared "Mickey" apples.... Jade loves getting these apples, pretzels, and cheese.
 Little Pigtails...

Pink (faux) Pumpkins I made for the girls' rooms:

Brooke and Jade were super excited to find out that The Wizard of Oz figures were in McDonalds happy meals this past month, since that is what they are dressing up as for Halloween. We searched high and low for all of the figures, but fell short of Dorothy and the Scarecrow- thank goodness for ebay, we now have the full collection.

Yesterday afternoon we walked around historic McKinney, which is always so fun. Jeff and I came across a charming antique bookstore. We managed to look around for about 10 minutes before the kids started to get restless. We really want to pick up some classic literature - many of the books in the store were the first editions. Holding some of the novels felt like holding a little piece of history, very cool. The owner of the store was very sweet, and he had a schnauzer that he let the girls pet. Jeff and I are looking forward to going back to this store very soon!
